The House Next Door
The House Next Door, Oxford
This project involved extensive analysis of the options for improving the energy performance of an ordinary semi-detached house in the suburbs of Oxford.
The guiding principle was to set a good example that others could easily follow. Measures that are the least technically demanding, and the most cost effective were selected using our OEx design methodology.
For example, even the highly insulated new extension to the house was designed to be built simply, and using environmentally friendly materials, by a small local builder.
The project won an Observer Ethical Award
